Breeze
hostileOurs, not the game's own: where it turns up, how a breeze behaves. Same on Bedrock v1.26.40.05 for health. Checked 2026-08-22, and here is how we check.
Overview
In Minecraft, the Breeze is classified as a hostile mob: it will attack players on sight whenever it is able to reach them.
Breezes make their home in the Overworld, turning up in Trial Chambers.
Its defining trait is simple: wind-themed mob that shoots wind charge projectiles.
Stat-wise it sits at 30 health (15 hearts), dropping 10 experience on death.
The Breeze has been part of the game since version 1.21.
Knowing how the Breeze behaves is mostly about survival: recognising it early and reacting correctly is what keeps a night-time excursion from ending in a respawn.
Damage by Difficulty
Spawning
Natural spawns for the Breeze occur in Trial Chambers.
Spawns from Trial Spawners in Trial Chambers.
Naturally spawned breezes will despawn over time when no player is nearby; naming one with a name tag or leading it away on a lead keeps it permanent.
A Breeze farm is built around its own spawn rule rather than around the light level, so start from what makes them appear at all.
Trial ChambersDrops
Here is what you can expect to collect from a Breeze:
Every kill yields 1 to 2 Breeze Rods.
You also collect 10 experience for every Breeze you defeat.
These are well worth keeping. Breeze Rods craft Wind Charges for players and are used in crafting the Mace weapon and Flow armor trim.
The Looting enchantment on your sword raises the quantity and, for many of these items, the drop chance of the rarer rolls, so it is well worth using when you grind this mob.
Since every item here is guaranteed, the only variable is quantity, which makes this mob a dependable, low-variance source of what it carries.
| Item | Count | Chance | Conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breeze Rod | 1 to 2 | always | player kill, Looting III up to 8 |

Where the Breeze lands, it has company: the warden on the same 24 follow range, the turtle on the same 30 health and the polar bear at that same figure.
Breeze: 4 values straight out of Minecraft Java 26.2
Nothing in the biome spawn lists and nothing in the rolls on death names the breeze, so the numbers on this page come from one place only: the game's own entry for it in Minecraft Java 26.2sets 30 health, 3 attack damage, 0.63 movement speed and 24 blocks follow range.
A breeze averages 1.5 Breeze Rod a kill on the rolls Minecraft Java 26.2 makes for it, before Looting, which puts a full stack of 64 Breeze Rod at 43 kills. 1 of those 1 rows (Breeze Rod) only roll when a player lands the killing blow, so a breeze killed by a fall or another mob averages 0 items instead of 1.5.
| Weapon | Attack damage | Full swings | Swings per 64 Breeze Rod |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 8 | 344 | |
| 5 | 6 | 258 | |
| 6 | 5 | 215 | |
| 7 | 5 | 215 | |
| 8 | 4 | 172 | |
| 9 | 4 | 172 | |
| 10 | 3 | 129 |
Turned around, 4 unblocked breeze hits empty a player's 20 health, 25% of the bar at a time, which is what the breeze's 5 damage on Normal buys it. On Easy the same breeze hit is 15%, on Hard 35%, so 7 hits against 3.
Behavior & Combat
In the field, wind-themed mob that shoots wind charge projectiles. Projectiles deal knockback and interact with certain blocks (buttons, levers, trapdoors). Jumps high to dodge.
At 0.63 it is 7th of 72 for speed, just above the wither at 0.6.
It can hit you for 3 on Easy, 5 on Normal and 7 on Hard, while its own 30 health (15 hearts) determines how many blows it takes to kill.
The fastest way to win is to lean on what it fears: Arrows and Trident.
Since it can attack from range, closing the distance quickly or breaking line of sight with cover is often safer than trading hits at a distance.
The practical takeaway is to respect its strengths, exploit the weaknesses listed above, and you will rarely lose a fight you choose to take.
Breeze commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| /summon minecraft:breeze | Puts a breeze on the block you are standing on. |
| /give @p minecraft:breeze_spawn_egg | Hands you the breeze spawn egg, so you can place breezes where you want them. |
| /kill @e[type=minecraft:breeze] | Removes every breeze that is loaded around you. |
Entity id minecraft:breeze, spawn egg minecraft:breeze_spawn_egg.
Breeze farm
There is no platform that produces breezes. Spawns from Trial Spawners in Trial Chambers. Anything you build has to feed that source instead of a dark floor.
Each kill is worth 10 experience and up to 2 breeze rods, or 8 with Looting III, and that row only drops when you land the killing blow yourself, so a fall or a lava blade collects nothing, and that figure is what decides how big the breeze farm has to be.
Breeze version history
13 June 2024 is the day the breeze arrived, in Minecraft 1.21, and the breeze has been part of the game for 2 years since.
One other mob here came with it: the bogged. That puts the breeze behind 78 of the 88 mobs here and ahead of 8.
The breeze numbers here come from Java 26.2, the version running now, and not from the one that introduced it.
