A Bee is a neutral mob: it ignores players until it is provoked, and only then turns aggressive.
Bees make their home in the Overworld, turning up in Plains, Sunflower Plains, Flower Forest, Meadow, and 2 other biome types.
Its defining trait is simple: pollinates flowers and crops (boosting growth).
It carries 10 health points, 5 hearts, and yields 1 to 3 experience when it dies.
Players have been encountering the Bee since the 1.15 update.
A useful detail many players miss: Use campfire smoke below nests/hives to harvest honey safely without angering bees.
The Bee sits in a useful middle ground, harmless if you respect it, but a real threat if you provoke it, which makes reading the situation important.

Spawning
In the wild, the Bee is generated in Plains, Sunflower Plains, Flower Forest, Meadow, Cherry Grove, and Birch Forest.
Spawns near bee nests on oak or birch trees. Groups of 3 per nest.
Spawns commonly come in batches of 3, which is worth remembering when you are deciding whether to engage or retreat.
Left alone far from any player, wild bees eventually despawn, so use a name tag if you want a specific one to stick around.
Since it only turns hostile when provoked, you can usually walk among bees safely as long as you avoid hitting one.

When killed, the Bee drops no items at all; its only reward is experience.
Because there is nothing to harvest from its corpse, the reason to engage a Bee is almost always the experience or simply clearing it out of the way, not farming a resource.
If you are after specific items, the Bee is not your source for them; look to mobs with populated drop tables or to mining and trading instead.
In terms of experience, each kill is worth 1 to 3 XP orbs.
Since there is nothing to pick up, you do not need to worry about a hopper or collection system for bees; they leave the ground exactly as they found it.
The game rolls nothing for it when it dies, so it leaves nothing behind at all.

The Bee shares this stretch of the scale: the cat, level with it on health, speed and follow range alike, the ocelot too and the fox on the same 2 attack damage.
Bee: 4 values straight out of Minecraft Java 26.2
Nothing in the biome spawn lists and nothing in the rolls on death names the bee, so the numbers on this page come from one place only: the game's own entry for it in Minecraft Java 26.2sets 10 health, 2 attack damage, 0.3 movement speed and 16 blocks follow range.

Coming the other way, a bee hit is 10% of a player's 20 health, 10 of them a full bar, all out of the bee's 2 damage on Normal. On Easy the same bee hit is 10%, on Hard 15%, so 10 hits against 7.
Behavior & Combat
Behaviourally, pollinates flowers and crops (boosting growth). Returns to nest/hive to produce honey. Attacks in swarms if nest is destroyed or bee is hit, loses stinger and dies.
At 0.3 it is 17th of 72 for speed, level with the ravager at 0.3.
It can hit you for 2 on Easy, 2 on Normal and 3 on Hard, while its own 10 health (5 hearts) determines how many blows it takes to kill.
The fastest way to win is to lean on what it fears: Water, Rain (seeks shelter), and Fire.
Breeding is straightforward: Any Flower given to two bees starts love mode and yields offspring.
As long as you avoid landing the first blow, you can usually go about your business near a Bee without trouble.

Bee farm
The bee does not roll onto a platform, so a farm is a pen: two adults and enough any flower keeps it going, and the pen has to grow with the herd rather than the spawning space.
1 to 3 experience per killBee version history
The bee was added in Minecraft 1.15, which came out on 9 December 2019, so the bee has been in the game for 6 years.
No other mob on this site arrived in 1.15, so the bee is the only page here that carries that version. Of the 88 mobs we list, 62 were in the game before the bee and 25 arrived after it.
The bee numbers here come from Java 26.2, the version running now, and not from the one that introduced it.
