Ravager
hostileOurs, not the game's own: where it turns up, how a ravager behaves. Same on Bedrock v1.26.40.05 for health. Checked 2026-08-22, and here is how we check.
Overview
A Ravager is a hostile mob: it will attack players on sight whenever it is able to reach them.
Ravagers make their home in the Overworld, turning up in Villages (during raids).
Its defining trait is simple: charges at players, dealing knockback.
Stat-wise it sits at 100 health (50 hearts), dropping 20 experience on death.
It was first added in 1.14 and has been a fixture of Minecraft ever since.
A useful detail many players miss: One of the strongest non-boss mobs in the game.
Knowing how the Ravager behaves is mostly about survival: recognising it early and reacting correctly is what keeps a night-time excursion from ending in a respawn.
Damage by Difficulty
Spawning
In the wild, the Ravager is generated in Villages (during raids).
Spawns only during raids (wave 3+). Sometimes ridden by Pillagers, Vindicators, or Evokers.
Left alone far from any player, wild ravagers eventually despawn, so use a name tag if you want a specific one to stick around.
Farming ravagers is not a matter of a dark platform: it is the spawn rule above that a farm has to reproduce.
Villages (during raids)Drops
Here is what you can expect to collect from a Ravager:
Every kill yields 1 Saddle.
In terms of experience, each kill is worth 20 XP orbs.
Farming ravagers is the standard way to stockpile saddles in quantity.
Since every item here is guaranteed, the only variable is quantity, which makes this mob a dependable, low-variance source of what it carries.
| Item | Count | Chance | Conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saddle | 1 | always |
Ravager attributes
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| 75% | |
| 1.95 x 2.2 blocks | |
| 10 chunks | |
| 20 | |
| 100 points | |
| 12 | |
| 32 blocks | |
| 0.3 |
The Ravager does not stand alone on these numbers: the iron golem on the same 100 health.
Ravager: 1 item per kill over 1 drop row
A ravager averages 1 Saddle a kill on the rolls Minecraft Java 26.2 makes for it, before Looting, which puts a full stack of 64 Saddle at 64 kills.
| Item | Average per kill |
|---|---|
| 1 |
How this average is worked out
| Weapon | Attack damage | Full swings | Swings per 64 Saddle |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 25 | 1600 | |
| 5 | 20 | 1280 | |
| 6 | 17 | 1088 | |
| 7 | 15 | 960 | |
| 8 | 13 | 832 | |
| 9 | 12 | 768 | |
| 10 | 10 | 640 |
Turned around, 2 unblocked ravager hits empty a player's 20 health, 60% of the bar at a time, which is what the ravager's 12 damage on Normal buys it. On Easy the same ravager hit is 35%, on Hard 90%, so 3 hits against 2.
Behavior & Combat
Charges at players, dealing knockback. Destroys crop blocks and leaves on contact. Roars after being stunned by a shield.
Hitting it barely moves it: 75% knockback resistance, where almost every other mob has none.
On the offensive it deals 7 on Easy, 12 on Normal and 18 on Hard, and you will need to chew through 100 health (50 hearts) to bring one down.
To deal with one efficiently, exploit its weaknesses: it is vulnerable to Shield stun and High ground.
The practical takeaway is to respect its strengths, exploit the weaknesses listed above, and you will rarely lose a fight you choose to take.
Ravager commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| /summon minecraft:ravager | Puts a ravager on the block you are standing on. |
| /give @p minecraft:ravager_spawn_egg | Hands you the ravager spawn egg, so you can place ravagers where you want them. |
| /kill @e[type=minecraft:ravager] | Removes every ravager that is loaded around you. |
Entity id minecraft:ravager, spawn egg minecraft:ravager_spawn_egg.
Ravager farm
There is no platform that produces ravagers. Spawns only during raids (wave 3+). Sometimes ridden by Pillagers, Vindicators, or Evokers. Anything you build has to feed that source instead of a dark floor.
Each kill is worth 20 experience and up to 1 saddle, and that figure is what decides how big the ravager farm has to be.
Ravager version history
Minecraft 1.14 brought the ravager in on 23 April 2019, 7 years of ravager by now.
6 other mobs here came with it: the fox, the panda, the trader llama, the pillager, the cat and the wandering trader. That puts the ravager behind 55 of the 88 mobs here and ahead of 26.
Every ravager figure on this page is read from Minecraft Java 26.2 as it stands today, not from the version above.
What Ravager sounds like
Turn subtitles on and every ravager sound names itself in the corner of the screen. These are the 8 lines a ravager can put there, and you can play any of them yourself with /playsound minecraft:entity.ravager.ambient master @p.
