Ocelot

In Minecraft, the Ocelot is classified as a passive mob: it will not hunt a player down, though its attack damage is not zero, because it uses that on other mobs or in self-defence.
Look for the Ocelot across the Overworld; it is tied to Jungle, Bamboo Jungle, and Sparse Jungle.
What sets it apart is its behaviour: shy, runs from players unless approached slowly while holding raw cod or salmon.
It carries 10 health points, 5 hearts, and yields 1 to 3 experience when it dies.
It was first added in 1.2.1 and has been a fixture of Minecraft ever since.
Also worth noting: Creepers stay 6 blocks away from ocelots.
Even without combat or loot to speak of, the Ocelot adds character to the worlds it lives in and often plays a quiet supporting role in the wider ecosystem.
Spawning
In the wild, the Ocelot is generated in Jungle, Bamboo Jungle, and Sparse Jungle.
The spawn table has no favourite: the Ocelot takes up the same 0.4% of the list in Bamboo Jungle and Jungle, so head for whichever you can reach first.
Spawns on grass or leaves in Jungle biomes above Y=63.
Height matters too: these spawns are tied to around Y=63, so the vertical slice you build or explore at directly affects how many you encounter.
Because it is harmless, the Ocelot is mostly useful as a renewable source of its drops, and you can let a small population breed up over time.
Where the Ocelot spawns
Bamboo Jungle and Jungle are where it stands strongest: weight 2 on the monster list and 0.4% of it, arriving 1 to 3 at a time. There it shares the list with Creeper at 100, Skeleton at 100, Slime at 100, Spider at 100 and Zombie at 95 and 3 more, 517 weight together, of which 2 is ocelot. That is the whole list.

Drops
Do not expect loot from the Ocelot: it has an empty drop table and yields only XP.
The value of the Ocelot is in what it does while alive, its behaviour and the role it plays in the world, rather than anything you collect by killing it, so there is little reason to hunt one for materials.
If you are after specific items, the Ocelot is not your source for them; look to mobs with populated drop tables or to mining and trading instead.
In terms of experience, each kill is worth 1 to 3 XP orbs.
Since there is nothing to pick up, you do not need to worry about a hopper or collection system for ocelots; they leave the ground exactly as they found it.
Because the Ocelot is harmless and breeds, the efficient long-term approach is a small enclosed pen where a breeding pair keeps replacing what you harvest, rather than hunting wild ones down one by one.
The game rolls nothing for it when it dies, so it leaves nothing behind at all.

On the receiving end an ocelot takes 15% off a player's 20 health per hit, so 7 of them land the kill; that share is the ocelot's attack damage attribute of 3.
Behavior & Combat
In the field, shy, runs from players unless approached slowly while holding raw cod or salmon. Creepers and phantoms avoid ocelots.
At 0.3 it is 17th of 72 for speed, level with the ravager at 0.3.
On the stat sheet it carries an attack damage attribute of 3 alongside 10 health (5 hearts), though it is not a mob that comes looking for a fight.
Ocelots can be bred with Raw Cod; feed it to two adults and they produce a baby that grows up over about twenty minutes.
All told, the Ocelot is a low-risk part of the world that rewards patience more than aggression.

Ocelot farm
Everything about a ocelot farm follows the ocelot spawn rule. Spawns on grass or leaves in Jungle biomes above Y=63.
Bamboo Jungle is where the ocelot has the biggest slice of the roll, 0.4% across the 2 lists the ocelot appears on, and that is the biome to build a ocelot farm in.
Each roll brings 1 to 3 ocelots at once, which is why a ocelot farm wants floor area rather than height.
Breeding beats waiting on spawns here: raw cod given to two adults produces a baby, and the pen keeps working in a lit, walled space where nothing new would ever spawn.

29 February 2012 is the day the ocelot arrived, in Minecraft 1.2.1, and the ocelot has been part of the game for 14 years since.
One other mob here came with it: the iron golem. That puts the ocelot behind 22 of the 88 mobs here and ahead of 64.
The ocelot numbers here come from Java 26.2, the version running now, and not from the one that introduced it.
